All coaches applying to join the Badminton Performance Group (BPG) must complete a trial and onboarding period before being accepted onto the platform.
This includes:
An initial coaching trial
A minimum of one week supporting existing BPG training sessions
Ongoing observation and feedback from the Head Coach
The support period may be extended beyond one week, if required, until the Head Coach is satisfied that the coach meets BPG standards and aligns with the programme’s values and coaching approach.
Progression beyond this stage is not automatic and remains at the discretion of BPG.
Coaches accepted onto the BPG platform do not enter into an employment or work contract with BPG or Dragon Badminton Club.
By joining BPG, coaches:
Register to gain access to the BPG platform
Are responsible for organising and delivering their own coaching sessions
May receive support from BPG in connecting with players, where appropriate
This structure allows flexibility while maintaining quality, consistency, and safeguarding standards across the programme.
To protect players, coaches, and the integrity of the BPG platform, the following rules apply:
Coaches are expected to actively look for and develop their own students
BPG may support coaches by directing players, but this is not guaranteed
🚫 Coaches registered with BPG are strictly prohibited from recruiting, redirecting, or moving BPG players to independent, non-BPG coaching sessions
Players introduced through BPG must remain within the BPG system
Any coaching sessions requested by BPG players must be organised and delivered via the BPG platform
Coaches may run independent sessions only if they do not involve BPG players
Any breach of these rules will be treated as a serious violation, and BPG reserves the right to remove the coach immediately and pursue legal action where appropriate.
BPG operates in line with the values promoted by Badminton England, including:
Respect
Integrity
Inclusivity
Player-centred development
All coaches are expected to:
Act professionally at all times
Work collaboratively with other coaches and staff
Respect boundaries, roles, and responsibilities
Place player welfare, safety, and development first
Coaches who do not align with these principles, or whose behaviour undermines the programme or its participants, will not be accepted or may be removed from the platform.
